Space for Ag Tours
Overview
The “Space for Ag” tour is NASA's week-long listening tour that takes NASA and NASA Acres scientists directly to America's farms, extension offices, and agricultural communities. By connecting face-to-face with the farmers, ranchers, and producers, we learn directly about the information that is needed to develop valuable, EO-based products, tools, and applications to help make better decisions on planting, planning, irrigating, and harvesting.
"We want to hear from farmers, from agriculture producers, what they need and then connect that to what data NASA can collect," explains Brad Doorn, former head of NASA's Applied Sciences Agriculture Program. Technology alone isn't enough. Our success depends on partnerships with institutions, organizations, and most importantly, the agricultural community itself. We've learned that the best solutions emerge when space-based data meets ground-level expertise.
Why This Matters
These tours lay the groundwork for long-term collaboration between farmers, ranchers, industry experts, and extension partners with NASA Acres and other stakeholders. The aim is to initiate and maximize the impacts of satellite-based agricultural innovations.
To find out how NASA can better share its knowledge
So NASA can best build future satellites, instruments, analytic tools, and missions.
